Surprise! May 20 at our “The Art of Success” event, we will hold a 45 minute Speed Networking training and practice.
Our introduction of Speed Networking with its structured training and format was a Great Success! Many people have made comments, such as “When are you doing it again?” and “This kind of networking really reduced the STRESS I usually feel at cocktail events with random networking.” We need to keep up the momentum as whatever we have doing seems to be working – we’re bringing in more people to the events as well as attracting some really interesting speakers. The September and November events had 50+ people, and December and January had 70 present. Thanks to all the organizers and people who donated prizes. A special thanks to Pi Club manager George Ho for donating the M&C Champagne won by former board member, Veronique Ficheux.
To help the organizers of the events, it is important that we receive your booking early so we can prepare name badges, food and table arrangements. I realize that some of our announcements of events have come out on short notice. This is largely due to a lack of volunteers to help out with the planning. Please note that the organizers of the events are doing this on their own time and would appreciate any help you can give them –please volunteer your time and energy!
Something new is the ‘Privilege Prices’ WBOC members are receiving when attending great workshops from our members. Our new “Members Benefit” WEEKDAY WORKSHOP DISCOUNT was initiated on February 18 when WBOC members attended the Public Speaking workshop run by Cecilia Yeung of Business Results, Ltd. March 1st and 8th, members were offered a 2-day training course on small business finance taught by Sophie Paine, our former Treasurer now residing in USA. If you want to hold a workshop under this format, please contact us.
Our IT Symposium held on February 28 was considered so successful by those attending, that requests have been made for us to offer this event twice a year to help people keep updated in the fast changing technology field. We even had some tech pros from Cisco and software developers commending our first attempt. Let us know what areas of IT you would like included in the next one and introduce us to potential presenters you know.
We would love to start hearing from you on any topics of interest for next year’s events. It is crucial that we receive feedback from you on this so we know what is important to our members. If you would like to help organize an event, please contact us.
